Maintain Healthy Weight

Maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding being overweight can significantly improve the health of your joints. This will protect your knees, hips, and back specifically. It is important to maintain a healthy weight for other health reasons such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke etc. By keeping your body in the healthy BMI range for your age and height, you can aid your joint health for as long as possible.

Stay Active

One of the most common reasons why people suffer from poor joint health and movement, is due to lack of physical activity. Ensure you are keeping active and move your body daily, as it will help your joints to stay moveable, flexible, and strong which will avoid pain and stiffness over time. Even by walking can improve the health of your joints significantly.

Build Muscle

Following on from staying active, an additional step to really ensure you are keeping your body healthy and strong is to build muscle strength. You can do this by using weights. Strengthening your joints and building muscle is an extremely effective method in staying mobile in the future. You can start off with lighter weights and increase the intensity over time.

Stretch

Stretching is a great way to keep mobile and keep your joints in a flexible condition. By taking 5-10 minutes out of your day to stretch this can majorly impact your body’s movement abilities. If you exercise and are doing multiple physical activities, you are always encouraged to stretch before and after to avoid injury.
